Our Grissini are Italian-style breadsticks, originally baked in the Northern Italian region of Piedmonte. As with many classic foods, the origin of Grissini in Italian cuisine is unknown. Legend has is that a royal baker in 17th century Turino concocted the breadstick to improve the health of a sickly young duke! Today in Italian kitchens, Grissini are always found on the table, nibbled on before meals or enjoyed with a glass of wine and olives. In restaurants they are served to accompany appetizers, meals or a fine wine. Attentive Italian mothers even give their babies a Grissini to ease the pain of teething!
Chef Franco has added a personal touch to his own original Italian-style breadstick recipe. Great care and love goes into making his Grissini. He chooses precious Italian herbs and brushes the rolled dough with the finest quality Tuscan Virgin Olive Oil. Each Grissini is individually baked to a crisp golden brown in Chef Franco's own ovens.
